[vc_column_text]GOLD-PLATING
Your jewel has been gold-plated, this means a thin layer of gold was applied to the base metal used to create your piece (we usually use silver .925 or brass).
The gold plating’s durability will vary depending on how much you wear your piece. With rings, necklaces and bracelets, some wearing is expected as the jewel becomes exposed to constant friction. In jewels such as earrings, the plating may last longer.
Please keep in mind that your jewel is not made of solid gold, so to preserve its plating we issue the following recommendations:
- Avoid letting your jewelry come into contact with harsh chemicals like hairspray, chlorine, antibacterial, shampoo, body cream and cleaning products.
- Remove your jewelry before showering and practicing any physical work such as exercise. Water and sweat may speed up the oxidation process.
- Many of our designs are very delicate. Damage or twist may occur with excessive uneven force.
- Each person has a different pH, and this can alter your jewel’s appearance. For example, an acidic pH could darken its finish.
- Storing your pieces individually in its packaging can help to avoid scuffs and scratches as well. To care for your jewelry and refrain them from tarnishing, store them in a dry area. This practice will also keep them from getting misplaced.
- To remove any stains and bring back your jewel’s luster, gently rub its surface using a special jewelry cleaning cloth.
- If skin irritation or problems are noticed during use, stop using immediately and consult a doctor.
If you’re looking to renew your jewelry’s gold plating, get in touch with us via email at contact@anabelcano.com. This additional service is provided only for Anabel Cano® designs at an extra cost.
